Battalion Chief – Communications Don Stevens Background: Battalion Chief Don Stevens was appointed to his position with the North County Fire Protection District in 2006. Chief Stevens also has “B” crew responsibilities, as well as the Reserves and Explorers programs. Employment: Hired in 1976 as an Reserve firefighter and then fulltime as an emergency dispatcher in 1977. Chief Stevens became a fulltime firefighter in 1978, with promotion through the ranks of engineer and captain. As administrative captain, Chief Stevens was responsible for the conversion of the District dispatch center to North County Joint Powers Authority. Chief Stevens currently holds the rank of Battalion Chief, responsible the Communication Division for the District. Education: Graduated from Fallbrook High School.
