Division Chief - Operations Gary Lane Background: Operations Chief Gary Lane was appointed to the position of Battalion Chief with the North County Fire Protection District in June of 2007. He was promoted to Division Chief of Operations in 2010. Chief Lane is responsible for oversight of the Operations Program area, three Battalion Chiefs and Training Program. Chief Lane is a married, father of four who currently resides in Western Riverside County. Employment: As the second of three generations of fire service family, Chief Lane started his fire service career in Fallbrook with what was then the Fallbrook Fire Protection District. He began as a Reserve Firefighter in 1980 and became a Shift Dispatcher/Reserve Firefighter in 1980. In 1985, he accepted a full time firefighter position with Hemet Fire Department in Riverside County. There, he served in the positions of Firefighter, Fire Engineer and Fire Captain. While with Hemet, he also served as a member of California Task Force 6, one of eight Urban Search and Rescue Teams located within California. Chief Lane returned to Fallbrook with the North County Fire Protection District in 2007. His current responsibilities include training, health & safety and “C” shift Battalion Chief.
