Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Torchia Deputy Chief Torchia was appointed to his position with the North County Fire Protection District on June 9, 2008. Deputy Chief Torchia has responsibilities for the Administrative programs of the District, including: Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, Information Systems, Vehicle Acquisition and Maintenance. Background: Employment: Chief Torchia began his career in 1982 with the Lemon Grove Fire Department and was promoted to Captain in 1990. He was transferred to San Miguel Fire Protection District in 1997 when the City of Lemon Grove contracted for fire protection and was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2002. He returned to Lemon Grove as the Fire Chief in 2004. Education: Received his AS degree from Riverside Community College in Fire Science and a BS in Fire Administration & Technology from Cal State University Los Angeles. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy 's Executive Officers Program. Affiliations: Is a member of the International Fire Chief's Association, the California Fire Chief's Association, the San Diego County Fire Chief's Association and the National Fire Protection Association.
