William (Bill) R. Metcalf

Chief Bill Metcalf was appointed to the position of the Fire Chief/CEO for the North County Fire Protection District in June of 2003.

Employment:

Chief Metcalf started his fire service career in 1974 with the Anne Arundel County ( Maryland ) Fire Department and also served with the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District in Incline Village, Nevada.  He has also served in a number of senior management positions in state government, non--profit and for-profit organizations. 

Education:

Chief Metcalf has an AA degree in Paramedic Sciences, a Bachelor's in Management and a Master's in Organizational Leadership. He is also a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program, a 4-year graduate-level educational program offered at the National Fire Academy. Chief Metcalf has also received the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation conferred by the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He joins a group of only 600 CFO's worldwide.
