Engine
Though designed primarily as a Structure Fire response unit, the
Engine carries equipment for nearly every type of emergency
including: medical equipment, auto extrication, rope rescue, and Haz
Mat.
Medic Engine
This engine also carries at least one Firefighter/Paramedic and
medical gear.
Brush Truck
The brush truck, with its off-road capabilities and the large amount
of water it carries, is generally only used for wildfires.
Medic Ambulance
This Unit is staffed by 2 state certified Paramedics who preform
advanced life support functions.
EMT Ambulance
This Ambulance is staffed by 2 state certified Emergency Medical
Technicians preforming basic life support functions.
OES 191
This Engine is owned by the State of California and staffed by NCF
personnel during a state emergency, such as an earthquake or a large
fire.
Heavy Rescue
This unit carries gear used in special rescue situations like trench
rescue, building collapse, and swift water rescue.
Water Tender
The Water Tender carries 1500-2500 gallions of water to supply
Engines and Brush trucks in areas that don't have easy access to
water, and are generally used on brush fires.
Attack
Also refered to as mini-pumpers, this truck carries 200 gallions of
water and is used and has much more off road capability than brush
trucks and engines.
Rescue
This is a first responder unit for medical aids and with its 4 wheel
drive capability, it also plays an important role in rescues in the
hill and back roads where ambulances and larger fire trucks cannot
gain access.
Haz Mat
Abbreviation for Hazardous Materials, essentially a chemical spill
or release that requires a special Haz Mat unit out of San Diego to
clean up. Under most circumstances NCF personal will contain, deny
entry, try to identify the product of chemical and even evacuate the
public in extreme cases.
