FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR:

The Fallbrook Firefighters Association honors those individuals whose outstanding achievements in the emergency services and the community provides examples of exemplary performance and who individual who exemplifies the character, commitment and compassion that are hallmarks of the firefighter profession. This is a peer award based on membership vote.

CAPTAIN BRANDON LUCORE:

Brandon has been actively involved in numerous District and Association activities and has been recognized by his peers for his devotion and commitment to:

Hose and Equipment program;
Mapping and Target Hazard programs;
Development of the Volunteer Corps;
Participation on numerous committees,
  including the Apparatus and Leadership   Committees.

Brandon was selected as a leader who demonstrates what it means to lead by example and who is recognized as the epitome of what a company officer should be. He is known for his hard work, dedication and the pride in his work that he communicates through his efforts, commitment and interactions with others.

Brandon currently serves as the District’s Administrative Captain working on special project.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR:

The Employee of the Year award is given to one employee each year. The award is for meritorious conduct in the performance of assigned duties for outstanding services and/or achievements.

PIO/ENGINEER JOHN BUCHANAN:

John was awarded the Employee Of The Year for his numerous efforts on behalf of the District. John is active in many areas, including:

Every 15 Minutes program;
Car Seat Safety program;
Fire Prevention Week and Open House;
Fire Prevention Education;
Think First program; and
District Public Information Officer (PIO).

In addition, John worked tirelessly throughout the Rice Fire event as the District’s PIO, coordinating local and national news media dissemination of information to families and the public. He worked diligently to ensure the most up-to-date status on the fire, evacuation and employees’ status was available.

MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARDS:

These awards are given to employees who distinguish themselves by outstanding achievement, contribution or service to the District or who, accomplished assigned duties in a manner that clearly exceeded service expected of individuals with similar responsibilities.

ROB DECAMP:
The District acknowledges Engineer Rob DeCamp for his dedication and devotion to the District’s Arson Team, including his community involvement and his service as Terrorism Liaison with the Fallbrook Sheriff.

ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST KATHY FORD:
The District thanks Kathy for her commitment to the Zone Operations Chiefs and Administrative Services Section, the Health & Safety Committee and for her covering other positions in the Department.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT MARY GALLINA:
The District acknowledges Mary’s continuing commitment by serving in numerous capacities, especially filling-in for the Fire Prevention Bureau during times of short staffing.

CAPTAIN GREG MANN:
For undertaking and maintaining the significant commitment to support the District’s Information Technology Division, the District salutes Greg.

CAPTAIN MICHAEL HILL:
The District acknowledges the significant commitment Mike has made throughout the community, including his involvement in the Roth House Project and the Holiday Toy Drive.

CAPTAIN STEVE MAROVICH:
The District recognizes Steve for his involvement and dedication to various District Projects, including the Health & Safety, EMS, Fieldsaver, Telestaff and Leadership Committees.

CAPTAIN KEITH MCREYNOLDS:
The District thanks Keith for his devotion to duty and his involvement in District projects, including the Zone Standardized Response Plan project and Health & Safety Committee.

COURIER CHRIS RAMIREZ:
The District thanks Chris for his outstanding devotion to duty and his dedication to the District, especially for his support of Explorer Post #2740.

FINANCE SPECIALIST BECKY TIMMERS:
The District acknowledges Becky for her devotion to duty in support of the Deputy Chief.

UNIT CITATIONS:

The Meritorious Unit Citation is awarded to units (two or more employees) for exceptionally meritorious conduct in performance of outstanding efforts, directly related to the Mission of the District.

COMMUNITY SERVICE/SAFETY AWARDS:

SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFF – FALLBROOK   DIVISION:
The District recognized the partnership with the District to ensure community safety, especially during the evacuation and aftermath of the Rice Fire in October of 2007.

FIRE SAFE COUNCIL:
The District acknowledged the extraordinary role the Council played in the acquisition of grants used to accomplish weed abatement in key locations throughout the District, helping to keep our community “fire safe.”

FALLBROOK HEALTHCARE DISTRICT:
North County Fire Protection District thanked the FHD for support the District’s mission through the grant of funds used acquire AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators) to place in public locations throughout the District.

The Chamber plays a key role in supporting our community. This was especially apparent during the Rice Fire, when the Chamber collaborated with the District to field thousands of calls regarding the evacuation, resources and community status.

In recognition of the tremendous support and efforts of the entire staff and Directors of North County Fire Protection District during the Rice Firestorm of 2007, Chief Metcalf expressed his gratitude for their efforts and presented employees with the Rice Fire 2007 Campaign Pin.
